Game Title:
Climb to the Top of the Castle
Game Description:
An old-school style Action-Platformer with one-hit kills and a limited number of lives to make it to the top of the Warlock's Castle and save the Princess.

The Knight must rescue the Princess who has been kidnapped by the Warlock and imprisoned at the top of his Castle.

You must scale up the Castle by jumping, climbing and fighting through the Warlock's Mechanical Army, to make it to the Top and save the Princess! And earn heaps of treasure!

What was your inspiration for making the game?
We where kicking around different game ideas for awhile. When we heard about this contest (on X-Play!), we thought about what game idea could we get up and running quickly.

How is your game unique from others out there?
We really wanted to make a game that's more old-school in design, I don't think all the creative ideas from classics like Super Mario Bros. have been tapped yet, I would say the uniqueness of this game stems from the fact that you don't see games like this a lot anymore.

How long did it take you to make your game?
Some mechanics in the game we were working on for other games and prototypes, but 3 months is about what it took to build the version we submitted to the contest.

What was the hardest part about making it?
Probably being a small team of 2 people. We had to make sure we didn't get to ambitious, and keep things simple.

Any other unique or interesting facts about your game we should know about?
Each level is drawn on a single piece of paper, then scanned and colored in Photoshop.

How did you pick the name of your game?  Did you have any others in mind?
We are definitely going for the lampooning of classic game themes -- we don't want the game to take itself too seriously -- so the obvious title fits the straight-forward goal of the game.
